Choosing a dog-friendly apartment in Cornwall
A self-catering apartment is often the easiest way to stay right by the sea with a dog. Most are in the busy coastal towns and resorts, so you can walk to the beach, the coast path and a dog-friendly café without getting in the car. On the north coast, look around Newquay, Porth and Crantock for surf beaches, or St Ives and Carbis Bay for harbour views and golden sand.
Some apartments come with extras that are hard to find in a cottage, such as pools, hot tubs and on-site cafés. SeaSpace at Porth, near Newquay, has a pool and hot tub with the coast path right opposite. For more choice, local agencies such as Carbis Bay Holidays have sea-view apartments around St Ives Bay.
Apartments suit couples and small families best. If you’d like a garden for your dog, a cottage may be the better choice.
