About Heligan Caravan and Camping Park
Heligan Caravan and Camping Park is a peaceful, dog-friendly campsite near Mevagissey on Cornwall’s south coast. Surrounded by countryside and woodland, it’s a great base if you want plenty of walks on the doorstep while still being within easy reach of beaches, fishing villages and some of Cornwall’s best-known attractions.
There’s a good choice of accommodation depending on how you like to holiday. Dogs are welcome on all touring and camping pitches, whether you’re bringing a tent, caravan, campervan or motorhome, with grass, hardstanding, electric and non-electric options available. If you prefer a few more home comforts, the park also has 16 holiday homes, ten of which are dog friendly. For larger families and groups, the dog-friendly Azalea Lodge sleeps up to eight and has its own private garden, sundeck and EV charging point.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are permitted per pitch or dog-friendly holiday home, and there are some useful facilities for four-legged guests too. An outdoor dog shower is ideal for washing off sandy or muddy paws after a walk, while the drying room comes in handy for wet coats, boots and walking gear.
One of the best things about staying at Heligan is how easy it is to explore without travelling far. The South West Coast Path and Pentewan Clay Trails are accessible from the park, opening up plenty of walking opportunities through the surrounding countryside and towards the coast. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are right next door, with direct access from the campsite, and dogs are welcome in the gardens on leads.
For beach days, Porthluney at Caerhays and Hemmick Beach are both around a 10-minute drive away and welcome dogs throughout the year. Mevagissey is also close by, with its picturesque harbour and a choice of dog-friendly places to eat and drink.
Back at the park, you’ll find a modern heated amenity block, private bathrooms, a launderette, drying room, children’s play area and well-stocked shop. Some pitches also have dedicated EV charging, making longer stays particularly convenient.
If you’re looking for dog-friendly camping in Cornwall with a choice of ways to stay, good walking from the site and plenty to explore nearby, Heligan makes a relaxed base for discovering this part of the Cornish coast with your dog.
