About Trecane Beach House
Some holiday homes make getting everyone out of the door a little easier. At Trecane Beach House, Widemouth Bay is just across the road, so a morning beach walk, an afternoon paddle or a sunset stroll can all be part of the same easy-going holiday.
Set on Marine Drive near Bude, this spacious four-bedroom house sleeps up to 10 guests and is well suited to family gatherings, multi-generational holidays and groups of friends travelling together. Sea views give the house its coastal character, while the generous living spaces mean there’s room to spread out when you’re back from the beach.
The lounge has a large corner sofa and a window seat overlooking the sea — a lovely place to watch the surf when the weather turns or to settle down after a busy day outdoors. The fully equipped kitchen and dining area has space for everyone to sit around the table, and there’s a separate utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities.
There are four bedrooms: a superking room with an en-suite shower room, a twin room that can be arranged as a king-size double, another double bedroom with an en-suite, and a bunk room with two sets of full-size bunks. A family bathroom completes the accommodation. The layout makes it practical for larger groups, with a mix of sleeping arrangements for adults and children.
Outside, the house has fenced garden areas at the front and rear, with seating for spending time in the fresh air. There’s also an outdoor area for rinsing off sandy feet and wetsuits, plus off-road parking for several cars. Wi-Fi is available throughout.
For dog owners, the location is a real draw. Widemouth Bay offers a long stretch of coastline to explore, with coastal paths nearby and plenty of opportunities for fresh-air adventures. Do check local beach dog restrictions before visiting, as seasonal rules can apply. The property is listed as dog-friendly, but the current dog allowance and fee should be confirmed with the owner before booking.
You’re also well placed for a relaxed meal or a coffee without getting back in the car. The beach café is close by, and local pubs and places to eat are within walking distance. Bude is a short drive away for shops, canal-side walks and more places to eat, while the wider North Cornwall coast offers plenty of tempting day trips, from Boscastle and Tintagel to Port Isaac.
Trecane is all about making the most of its seaside setting: breakfast before a beach walk, surfboards ready for an afternoon in the waves, and a comfortable house to return to when the sun begins to set. For a larger family or group wanting the beach close at hand — and space for the dog to come along too — it’s a very appealing North Cornwall base.
