Somewhere between a country house stay and a lakeside escape, Lakeview Manor gives you plenty of reasons to slow down.
Set within 45 acres of Devon countryside near Dunkeswell, this peaceful retreat combines a traditional country manor hotel with a collection of luxury lodges overlooking lakes and woodland. You can keep things classic with a hotel stay and breakfast, or settle into a spacious lodge where the countryside becomes part of the view from the moment you wake up.
For dog owners, the real attraction is how much thought has gone into making four-legged guests part of the experience. Dogs stay free, with up to three welcome in pet-friendly accommodation, and there are walks across the estate, an enclosed off-lead dog play area and, new for 2026, a dedicated Doggie Dipping Lake. After a muddy walk or energetic splash, there’s even a dog wash area near reception with hot and cold water for cleaning off paws before heading back to your room or lodge.
And you don’t have to leave your dog behind when it’s time to eat. The Dabbling Duck Bar and Restaurant welcomes dogs in its designated dog-friendly dining area, meaning you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner together rather than having to take turns. The dog-friendly tables are popular, so booking ahead is recommended.
Accommodation ranges from cosy pet-friendly hotel rooms and family suites to luxury lodges sleeping between two and six people. For something extra special, several pet-friendly lodges have private hot tubs, while selected properties also offer EV charging, lakeside positions and generous decking. There are plenty of options whether you’re planning a romantic escape, a family break or a getaway with friends and several dogs in tow.
There’s plenty to keep the humans entertained too. The estate’s lakes provide opportunities for fishing, while the surrounding countryside is made for walking and wildlife spotting. Back at the manor, you can settle into the restaurant and bar or make the most of your own lodge and hot tub. It strikes a lovely balance between having plenty to do and giving you permission to do very little at all.
When you’re ready to venture further, Lakeview Manor is well placed for exploring East Devon. The Jurassic Coast is around 16 miles away, with Beer, Exmouth and the wider coastline providing plenty of opportunities for seaside adventures and coastal walks. After a day exploring, you can return to the quieter surroundings of the estate and let your dog have another run around before settling in for the evening.
What makes Lakeview Manor particularly appealing is that dogs aren’t simply permitted in a few rooms and forgotten about. They have their own places to play, swim, walk, wash and relax alongside their owners. Add in the lakeside setting, luxury lodges and hot tubs, and you’ve got a Devon break that works just as well for the humans as it does for the hounds.
