If you’re looking for a dog friendly beach in Devon, the Blue Flag-awarded Dawlish Warren ticks all the boxes. With a mile and a half stretch of sand, clean waters and amusements, it’s easy to see why the beach is popular among families and beach goers. Dogs are permitted on the beach between groyne 4 and 9 all year round.
Despite Dawlish Warren’s popularity, the beach still remains free from crowds each year due to its expanse of over a mile and a half of sand, perfect for letting your dog run off some energy. Dawlish Warren is watched over by RNLI lifeguards, so if you fancy having a paddle or learning to surf, you can do so safe in the knowledge that you’re in good hands. Sitting at the mouth of the Exe Estuary, Dawlish Warren is one of the most important areas for wildfowl and wading birds in the country, with thousands coming to feed and spend the winter here. The surrounding dunes and grassland are home to over 600 types of flowering plants – a recognised ecological site protected by national and international laws.
