The Queen’s Arms is a dog-friendly country pub and boutique hotel in Corton Denham, a peaceful Somerset village near the Dorset border. Surrounded by rolling hills and only four miles from the historic town of Sherborne, it’s a lovely place to stay if you enjoy good food, countryside walks and a proper village pub atmosphere.
The accommodation is spread across the main inn, a separate Coach House and Queen’s Court Cottage. Of the ten bedrooms available, three individually styled rooms in the Coach House welcome dogs. Rooms 6, 7 and 8 all have ensuite bathrooms, comfortable beds, Wi-Fi and views across the gardens or countryside. Room 6 is on the ground floor, making it particularly convenient for guests travelling with older dogs.
For families or friends wanting more space, Queen’s Court Cottage is another dog-friendly option. This detached former skittle alley has two bedrooms and sleeps four, with a spacious living and dining area, kitchen, family bathroom and private parking. It offers the independence of a cottage while keeping the pub and restaurant close at hand.
Dogs are welcome inside the pub too, which makes a real difference when you’re visiting outside the summer months. The Queen’s Arms is known for its seasonal cooking, with menus featuring locally sourced ingredients, traditional pub favourites and more adventurous dishes. Whether you’re staying overnight or simply stopping for lunch after a walk, you can bring your dog along rather than leaving them behind.
There are plenty of opportunities to explore the surrounding countryside. Walks around Corton Ridge offer far-reaching views, while routes towards Cadbury Castle and along the Monarch’s Way provide options for longer outings. Sherborne is nearby for a wander around its historic streets, independent shops and cafés.
The Queen’s Arms is also conveniently placed for travellers heading towards Devon and Cornwall, sitting just off the A303.
If you’re looking for a dog-friendly hotel in Somerset where you can enjoy a comfortable stay, excellent food and beautiful countryside without leaving your dog behind, The Queen’s Arms makes a great base for a few days away.
